Since Windows Movie Maker can’t read some video formats in my PC like flv, any solution to fix this problem? In my view, it’s difficult to use. I only want to do quick edits, fed up with reading any tutorial. Can you recommend me some Windows Movie Maker alternatives? I prefer to change a tool, are there any programs that both can do simple edits and video downloads? I heard that there are advanced tools in the market currently. Plz find some for me.

Queena, thanks for your question. After considering carefully, I’d like to give the answer now.

Windows Movie Maker only recognizes limited video and audio formats like WMV, AVI, MPEG, MP3 and etc. When you import FLV video into Windows Movie Maker, it won’t give you any respond. In order to import videos to it successfully, you can transfer the video format. Search in Google, you can find thousands of video converters, just choose one you like.

Let’s talk about the alternatives to Windows Movie Maker. According to your words, I think you need a tool that features video editing, downloading and converting in one. Then, I advise you to take advantages of these two tools—Video Download Capture and VLC player.

Using Video Download Capture, it can convert flv videos to other format easily. Click Convert button, drop videos into it and choose target formats as AVI or WMV. It also supports you to convert several videos simultaneously. This tool attaches some edit function, you can shorten the video length, change video size and even add subtitles to video with it. The way to use it is very convenient and enough to meet your need. In addition, it can download online videos in three methods. Auto-detect and download videos in most websites, Advanced Video Recorder to download encoded rtmp videos, Record Screen feature to record live streaming videos. In general, it is one of the best Windows Movie Maker alternatives.

Or, you can try VLC player. It is the hottest media players, maybe you have already installed it on your PC. This workable tool can play and convert videos to AVI, WMV and more formats. It can do download jobs except of downloading rtmp videos. The edit options can be found in Video menu.
